According to a press release, during the audience granted to the Turkish diplomat, cooperation between the two countries was reviewed, reinforced with the visit of the President of the Republic to Turkey, in July last year, during which an agreement was signed agreement in the field of air transport, which serves to facilitate the increase in trade and business and tourist travel between Angolans and Turks.
The agreement has allowed, since October last year, when the Turkish President visited Angola, a direct connection through the flag airlines of both countries, TAAG and Turkish Airlines.
During President João Lourenço’s visit to Turkey, ten cooperation instruments were signed, with emphasis on the Memorandum on Visa Exemption in Diplomatic, Service and Special Passports, the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of Mechanisms for Political Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Angola and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Angola and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey.
The instruments signed also include the Agreement for the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments, the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Institute for the Support of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Angola and the Organization for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises in Turkey, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas of Angola and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey on Cooperation in the fields of Hydrocarbons and Minerals.
During his visit to Angola, the President of Turkey proposed, during an Economic Forum in Luanda, the creation of a network of businessmen between Angolans and Turks, in addition to having announced the strengthening of cooperation in the banking sector to facilitate commercial exchanges .
Recep Tayyp Erdogan also expressed interest in seeing Angolan and Turkish businessmen aligned for the sake of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
