Africa-Press – Angola. The republics of Angola and Uganda intend to strengthen cooperation in the political-diplomatic, finance, banking, education, health and oil fields, said Monday in Luanda, the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António .
The areas of technical, professional and scientific training and energy are also part of the desire to strengthen cooperation, with a view to developing the economy of both countries, according to the Angolan official who was speaking at a meeting with a delegation from Uganda, headed by the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Henry Oryem Okello.
For Minister Téte António, strengthening cooperation relations is important, taking into account the enormous potential and existing opportunities.
“We must work, more and more, in the implementation of the commitments already assumed for the deepening of our relations, through the development of concrete projects”, said the minister, for whom there is a need to create conditions for the first meeting of the Bilateral Commission Angola- Uganda.
The initiative will make it possible to identify new areas and establish the goals to be achieved, within the scope of this cooperation that is intended to be more dynamic and with reciprocal advantages, according to the minister.
Téte António recalled that recently, on April 14, 2023, he received figurative letters from Uganda’s resident ambassador, in a clear demonstration of this Executive’s interest in strengthening and boosting friendly and cooperative relations with Angola.
On his turn, the minister of State and Foreign Affairs of Uganda, Henry Oryem Okello, highlighted the role of Angola and his country in the pacification of the great lakes region.
He considered it important to strengthen the cooperation of economic diplomacy, in order to attract investment to his country.
On February 12, 2014, in the city of Kampala, Angola and Uganda initialed four legal instruments, namely, the agreements on the establishment of diplomatic relations, general economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation, on the creation of the bilateral cooperation and the memorandum of understanding on political consultations between the respective ministerial departments.
