Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, met this Friday in Antalya with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha.The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 4th Edition of the Diplomacy Forum taking place in that Turkish city.
According to a note sent to JA Online, the meeting represented the continuation of the political dialogue initiated on the occasion of the Ukrainian Minister’s official visit to Luanda in October 2024, and was part of the mutual efforts aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Republic of Angola and Ukraine, within the framework of a common vision of constructive engagement with the African continent.
During the meeting, the two heads of diplomacy reviewed the current state of bilateral relations between Angola and Ukraine, where they expressed convergence of interests in the sense of deepening them, especially in the most varied areas.
In turn, Andrii Sybiha reiterated the Ukrainian Government’s commitment to fostering a solid partnership with Angola, having stressed the importance of maintaining a permanent channel of political dialogue at the highest level.
Téte António acknowledged Ukraine’s demonstrated willingness to deepen ties with Africa, and the country’s willingness to continue to prioritize diplomacy of understanding, based on respect for the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter and International Law.The two heads of diplomacy welcomed the progress made in bilateral relations and expressed interest in promoting technical and political visits to identify projects of common interest.
On this occasion, the two entities also discussed the geopolitical repercussions of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with a particular focus on global food security, energy stability and the regular functioning of supply chains.
Finally, they acknowledged the role of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum as a privileged stage for deepening political coordination and preventive diplomacy.
Relations between Angola and Ukraine were established in 1993, after Ukraine’s independence, and have remained cordial ever since.
