Africa-Press – Angola. A meeting for the preparation of the review of the situation of cooperation between the republics of Angola and Vietnam to search for the best solutions in favor of the scientific and technological development of the two countries took place, Wednesday (6), by videoconference, informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.

As part of the friendship and cooperation relations between the two, the 6th Session of the Angola-Vietnam Bilateral Commission will review the results of the existing cooperation between the two States, with a view to increasing new cooperation actions in various areas, namely: Education and Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation; Health; Politics and Diplomacy; Agriculture and Fisheries, Trade and Industry, Defense and Security; Construction, in a context in which the world is experiencing substantial changes resulting from the prevalence of the Covid-19 pandemic, but also as a result of technological changes and scientific development.

The technical meeting, guided by Eugénio da Silva, Secretary of State for Higher Education, was held by videoconference from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It aimed to assess the level of implementation of the existing cooperation between the two countries, within the scope of the VI Session of the Bilateral Commission, held on October 30, 2013, in Hanoi, Vietnam.

It was attended by the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, Domingos Vieira Lopes, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam, Nguen Van Phuc, the Ambassador of Angola to Vietnam, Agostinho André de Carvalho Fernandes, the Ambassador of Vietnam in Angola, Vu Ngoc Minh City, as well as other diplomats from both nations.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Angola and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam began on November 12, 1975, shortly after the proclamation of national independence on November 11 of this year, through the declaration of recognition issued by the Vietnamese Government.

This recognition is part of the process of struggle for national independence and the support that the Republic of Vietnam provided to nationalist liberation movements in Africa.
