Africa-Press – Angola. Angola will participate, as of today, in the German city of Nuremberg, in the 73rd edition of the Ideas, Innovation and New Products Fair (IENA), with 23 technological projects of social impact.
The Angolan delegation to the German technology fair, which will run until 4 November, is headed by professor Mateus Padoca Calado, from the Agostinho Neto University, and did not arrive in the city of Nuremberg with the number of members initially planned, as some had given up on the trip. .
The withdrawal was due to the fact that they were unable to obtain sponsorship to cover travel expenses to that European country and participation in the fair, one of the oldest in the world in the field of technologies and innovation.
“It is difficult to perceive the lack of support in recent years”, lamented Mateus Padoca Calado, who, before leaving for Germany, told Jornal de Angola that, due to the withdrawal of some, he still did not know the number of members, assuming that between six and ten people could represent the country, in the also known as Nuremberg Fair.
About the 23 projects taken by Angola to the Nuremberg Fair, computer engineer Mateus Padoca Calado informed that they present innovative solutions for the improvement of the Health, Education, Agriculture, Fisheries, Energy and Water, Basic Sanitation, Information and Communication Technologies, Computers, Entertainment, as well as for animal and wild life.
Most of the creations are by students and professors from the universities Agostinho Neto and Metodista Unida (UMA), some by individual authorship and others in co-authorship. In the list of creations, there are also creators not linked to institutions, being considered “free inventors”.
In addition to representatives from the Agostinho Neto and Methodist universities of Angola, the delegation also includes members of the Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University, the Provincial Government of Namibe, the Angolan Computer Society (SAC) and Seaka – Casa de Caminho André Luís.
The head of the delegation added that some of the projects submitted were selected at inventors’ fairs and other events dedicated to technological creation processes.
The IT engineer guaranteed that the projects that Angola took to the fair will compete on an equal footing with those of inventors from other countries.
Angola has participated, since 2009, in the Nuremberg Fair and, until last year, won 87 medals, 21 gold, 31 silver and 35 bronze.
In last year’s edition, eight medals were won, two gold, three silver and three bronze.
