Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, participates this Sunday, in Kampala (Uganda), in the thirtieth summit of heads of State and Government of the G-77 plus China, representing the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

The meeting, which takes place under the motto “Leave No One Behind”, was opened by the host head of state, Yoweri Musseveni, who received the symbols of the Group’s annual presidency from the Vice-President of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa.

On the occasion, the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, highlighted the importance of the Group of 77+China in the context of the United Nations, as it is the main promoter of South-South cooperation.

The thirtieth summit of heads of state and government of the G-77 plus China, which ends on Monday, adopted the organization’s work agenda, the report of the president of the Senior Officials Meeting and the Final Document of the Third Southern Summit.

The event aims to give a new dynamic to cooperation between the 134 Member States of the Group of 77+China, in a more competitive world, aiming to boost South-South cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, sustainable development, changes climate change, poverty eradication and the digital economy.

The Group of 77 (G-77) was created on June 15, 1964 by 77 developing countries signatories to the “Joint Declaration of the Seventy-Seven Developing Countries”, issued at the end of the first session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), in Geneva.

It is currently the largest coalition of developing countries in the United Nations, which allows the Group greater capacity for the South to articulate and promote its collective economic interests and strengthen its capacity for joint negotiation on all major international economic issues in the system of the United Nations, including South-South cooperation.
