Africa-Press – Angola. A delegation from the Angolan Court of Auditors has been participating, since Monday, in the city of Palermo, Italy, in the International Conference on the “Exercise of the Jurisdictional Accounting Function: International Experiences and Exchange of Best Practices”.

According to a press release, the event aims to share international experiences and exchange good practices in matters of jurisdictional financial control and will take place from the 6th to the 8th of May, in the largest city in the Sicily region.

Divided into three distinct sessions, the meeting also serves to discuss issues linked to the “Accounting Justice System: General Aspects and the Administrative and Accounting Responsibility Regime”.

In his communication, on the first day of the work, the advisory judge Fausto Simões said that the Angolan Court of Auditors is the supreme body for monitoring the legality of public finances and the judgment of accounts subject to its jurisdiction.

He pointed out as competencies the preventive, concomitant, successive inspection, the issuance of the opinion on the General State Account and the implementation of Financial Responsibilities (reintegration and sanctioning).

In a second presentation, referring to the theme “Accounting Justice System: The Administrative and Accounting Responsibility Regime”, he emphasized that in Angola, the accounting and auditing system has evolved significantly over the years.

He clarified that this was driven by regulatory changes and a growing need for transparency and financial responsibility, encompassing the administrative and accounting responsibility regime, with standards and guidelines that allow the supervision of accounting and auditing in the country.

He explained that as guardian of legality and efficiency in the management of public resources, the body plays a crucial role in monitoring the State’s finances, is responsible for issuing opinions on the State’s General Account and in supervising the Executive’s budget execution.

This process, he concluded, not only reinforces transparency and financial responsibility, but also supports the country’s financial control system.

The conference has the participation of several Italian entities and twelve delegations from different countries, namely Angola, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Iran, Morocco, Portugal, Thailand and Turkey.
