Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan President decided to create an inter-ministerial commission to receive citizens repatriated or deported from the United States of America (USA), direct them and resettle them in their areas of origin.

The presidential order signed by João Lourenço, to which Lusa had access this Friday, does not detail the numbers, but points to the “need to create organizational and administrative conditions for the process of receiving and analyzing the legal situation of Angolan citizens repatriated or deported from the United States of America, as well as their referral and relocation to their respective provinces or areas of origin”.

In 2024, the US deported 119 Angolan citizens, 49 more than the previous year and three times more than in 2019, according to the annual report by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Services.

The commission, coordinated by the Minister of State and head of the Military Household of the President of the Republic, General Francisco Furtado, includes 12 entities, including ten ministers, the head of the State Intelligence and Security Service and the Director General of the External Intelligence Service.

The responsibilities of this body include creating administrative and logistical conditions to receive these citizens and verify their profile and determine their criminal records.
