Africa-Press – Angola. The matches between Interclube-1o de Agosto and Petro de Luanda-Sagrada Esperança are the highlights of the quarter-finals of the Angola Cup in football, to be played simultaneously this Wednesday, at 3 pm.
The match between the “police” and “military” takes place at the 22 de Junho stadium, in a rematch after a 1-1 draw at the end of the “Girabola” National Championship, last week.
In total, both teams have nine trophies in this competition. The formation of Rocha Pinto three times champion (1986, 2003 and 2011), already that of RI20 with six (1984, 1990, 1991, 2006, 2009 and 2019).
In the other highlight of the round, Petro de Luanda and Sagrada Esperança face off at the Tundavala stadium, in the province of Huíla, due to the banning of the 11 de Novembro stadium by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Both teams are qualified for the African competitions. The “petrolíferos”, national champions, for the Champions Club League and the “lundas” for the Confederation Club Cup.
The Catetão team is the most titled in this event, with 13 titles (1987, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2012, 2013, 2017, 2021 and 2022), while Sagrada Esperança won only two occasions (1999 and 1988).
Petro de Luanda is the holder of the Cup, after overcoming Desportivo da Huíla, by 2-1, in the last edition.
