Africa-Press – Angola. Angola beat Zimbabwe 5-4 on penalties on Wednesday to qualify for the second round of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers to be held in the Kingdom of Morocco in 2026.

After beating Zimbabwe 2-1 in the first leg last week and losing by the same scoreline in the second leg, penalties were needed to decide who would advance.

The result, achieved at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa, Zimbabwe’s borrowed home, means Angola will face Malawi in the next round in October.

Angola’s Winger Ay Papel was once again the hero of the match, scoring Angola’s only goal in the 77th minute when she beat two opponents and shot past the goalkeeper.

The player, who was playing with physical problems, was targeted throughout the match. However, she managed to score Angola’s only goal.

In the previous match at the 22 de Junho stadium in the capital, Luanda, she had scored both goals for the national team. First in the opening minute and then in the 74th minute.
