Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan men’s U-16 basketball team facees Egypt on Friday at 12:00 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the African Championship, taking place in Kigali, Rwanda.
For this Afrobasket tournament, the Angolans, coached by Jaime Covilhã, aim to improve on their fourth-place finish in the previous edition.
In the group stage (Group A), Angola finished second with five points, the result of two wins and one loss.
The debut match was marked by a victory over hosts Rwanda (67-56), followed by a defeat to Côte d’Ivoire (51-64), and a convincing victory over Somalia (65-37).
In addition to the match between Angola and Egypt, the quarterfinals also feature the following matches:
Cameroon vs. Uganda (10:00 a.m.), Mali vs. Tunisia (3:00 p.m.), and Côte d’Ivoire vs. Rwanda (4:00 p.m.).
The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, while the final will be played on Sunday.
