Africa-Press – Angola. The Republic of Angola began the process of opening its Embassy in Canberra, on Friday, in the Commonwealth of Australia, as part of fulfilling the necessary administrative procedures with the accrediting authorities.

In this sense, the designated ambassador of the Republic of Angola to the Commonwealth of Australia, António Luvualu de Carvalho, was received, in audience, by the Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, diplomat Marc Innes-Brown.

At the meeting, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador António Luvualu de Carvalho delivered a message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola, diplomat Téte António, addressed to his counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Community of Australia, Senator Penny Wong, highlighting the strengthening of relations between the two countries.

On the occasion, Marc Innes-Brown, highlighted the fundamental role played by Angola in maintaining Peace in the Central and Southern regions of the African continent.

The diplomat avails the moment to reaffirm Australia’s interest in deepening ties with Angola, both at government level and in increasing trade.

Australia is currently the twelfth largest economy in the world, with the main sectors being mining, agriculture, livestock, tourism, as well as the provision of services.

It has the ninth largest stock exchange in the world, the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).

António Luvualu de Carvalho was appointed, by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to the Commonwealth of Australia on 2 August 2023.
