Africa-Press – Angola. Martín Payero, who defends the colors of the Angolan flag, but who was born in San Juan, Argentina, is experiencing an unforgettable moment, having returned to his homeland to compete in the Roller Hockey World Cup, where the competition takes place and where he has special support from family and friends.

The National Team won the first match against Mozambique, by 5-2, but the biggest surprise was the shouts of support and the Angolan flags on the stands, which did not escape the gaze of Martin Payero, when he sang the national anthem.

“We were at Martin’s debut against Mozambique and we were thrilled because it’s the first time we can see him play in a World Cup, besides, because he hasn’t played in Argentina for about 20 years, for the little ones in the family it’s the first time they see him with his skates on,” revealed family members, interviewed for Diario de Cuyo, San Juan’s main news outlet.

From Payero’s mother, Margarita López, who prepared the flags, to his aunts, Susana and Amélia López, Elvira Riveros and Iris Murúa, to his cousins, Andrea Carpio, Amelia Ojeda, Gimena and Lisa Navas, Lorenzo and Leandro López, Francisco Arias and family friends, Sebastián Penco, María Jesús Marín and Carlos Fernández, were all present.

Before the clash of the heavy defeat, last Tuesday, by 4-0, against Argentina, in a game referring to group B, the family was undecided about who to support.

“Today we have a divided heart, the little ones go with the Argentina shirt, but they carry the Angola flag, if we are going to shout the goal of Angola or Argentina? I don’t know how we will react”, they stressed, adding that “it is very difficult because on the one hand we want things to go well with Martín, but of course we support our team”, they said.

With the game against Spain, who are favorites to win and take second place, at least the National Team knows that they can count on special support, that of Martín Payero’s family.
