Africa-Press – Angola. The Council of Ministers of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) is meeting this Monday in Luanda to assess the role of the seas and oceans in the international projection and economic cooperation in the organisation.

The meeting, the 16th of an extraordinary nature, is focused on cooperation between community members and provides for the review of the internal staff regulations (RIP).

Speaking at the event, the outgoing president of the CPLP Council of Ministers, Téte António, highlighted the organization’s growth in terms of strategic plans for cooperation and the expansion of community actions in various areas.

Téte António also pointed out that there are structural reforms to be made that go through dialogue between the Member States of the community.

The minister reiterated that the Angolan Presidency’s agenda chose economic cooperation as a priority for action, with a view to adapting the CPLP statute to this new paradigm.

According to Téte António, the statute was revised to regulate membership and improve cooperation with associated observers.

Angola assumed the rotating presidency of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) during the organization’s XIII Conference of Heads of State and Government, which took place in Luanda, in 2021.

Angola defends as an agenda, among other projects, the strengthening of mobility between Member States and special attention to the economic sector.
