Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan senior men’s roller hockey team are part of group A of the 70th edition of the Montreux International Tournament in Switzerland, scheduled to take place between April 1st and 5th of the current year.
The African champions will face Italy in their opening match (April 1st) and then Argentina, the defending champions (April 2nd). They will conclude the regular season against Montreux Hockey Club (April 3rd).
Portugal (runners-up), Spain, France, and Switzerland, are part of group B.
According to the tournament rules, the two best teams from each group qualify for the semifinals.
In the previous edition, the Angolans finished in sixth place. Their best ranking ever was third place in 2013, after beating Germany 6-3.
Angola made their debut in the tournament in 1982, having finished in ninth place.
The Montreux International Tournament brings together continental champions and invited teams. It serves as preparation for the World Championship to take place from October 11th to 18th in AsuncioĢn, capital and the largest city of Paraguay.
