Angola inaugurates Consulate General in Istanbul

Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teté António, inaugurated, this Saturday, the Consulate General of Angola in Istanbul (Turkey).

According to a note the two-story building has four offices with 7 employees.

The minister recommended that the General Consulate services not be limited to issuing visas, but should take advantage of comparative advantages, with a view to providing answers to the many challenges that the country faces, for sustainable development.

For his part, the Consul General, Colense de Sousa, said that the consulate is ready to issue visas and Consular Registration.

The minister was accompanied by the Angolan Ambassador to Turkey, José Patrício, and by the Consul General in Istanbul, Colense de Sousa.

The act was also witnessed by the Europe director of MIREX, Cuandina de Carvalho, members of the Cabinet of the Minister and diplomats.

Angola and Turkey maintain commercial cooperation in the areas of air transport, defence, trade, investment protection, oil, mining, agriculture and renewable energies.

Available data show that the volume of business between Angola and Turkey, in 2021, was around US$170 million.

Turkey recognized Angola as a sovereign country shortly after its independence in 1975 and diplomatic relations were cemented with the opening of the Turkish embassy in Angola in 2010, followed by Angola in Turkey in 2011.
