Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and Mozambique are in Group C of the 22nd edition of the 2023 Cosafa Cup in football, which will be played from July 5th to 16th, in the city of Durban, South Africa.

According to the draw, held Friday, by the governing body of the modality of the Southern Region of the continent, in addition to the opponent of the Indian, the National Team also faces the counterparts of Mauritius and Lesotho.

This time, Angolans and Mozambicans are the protagonists of a Lusophone duel in the area.

The new edition of the biggest football tournament in Southern Africa in terms of national teams will be marked by the implementation of new competition models, where the 12 participating teams are divided into three groups each with four teams.

Meanwhile, the best team in each group advances to the semi-finals along with the runners-up, meaning there is little margin for error.

The semi-finals will be played on the 14th of July, while the final and third place will be played on the 16th of the same month.

The new dispute format will also allow each country to play a minimum of three and a maximum of five games throughout the competition. In addition to allowing extra days of rest between most games, in order to safeguard the players’ physical condition.

The selection of Zimbabwe and Zambia lead the competition’s history, each with six (6) titles conquered, followed by South Africa five (5), Angola three (3) and Namibia one (1).

GROUP A: South Africa, Namibia, Eswatini and Botswana.

GROUP B: Zambia, Malawi, Seychelles and Comoros.

GROUP C: Mozambique, Angola, Mauritius and Lesotho.
