Africa-Press – Angola. Angola participates tomorrow and Sunday, in the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), which takes place in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The event takes place within the framework of the 42nd summit of SADC Heads of State and Government, scheduled for the 17th and 18th of this month.

The 42nd summit of SADC Heads of State and Government will take place under the theme “Promotion of Industrialization, through Agro-Processing, Transformation of Mineral Resources and Development of Regional Value Chains, for Economic, Inclusive and Resilient Growth” .

The Angolan delegation is headed by the Secretary of State and Cooperation, Vieira Lopes, and includes the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, the Angolan ambassador to the DRC, Miguel Costa, the national secretary of SADC, Nazaré Salvador, the ambassador from Angola in Botswana and permanent representative to SADC, Beatriz Morais.

SADC is an intergovernmental organization created in 1992, dedicated to social and economic cooperation and integration, as well as cooperation in matters of politics and security.

The regional organization includes South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Seychelles.

Promoting economic growth and development, reducing poverty, increasing the population’s quality of life, peace and security, sustainable development, strengthening and consolidating the region’s cultural, historical and social affinities are, among others, the main objectives of the regional organization.

Steering Committee Meets In Cameroon

The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça, heads the Angolan delegation that has been participating since yesterday in the Cameroonian capital, Yaondé, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the fifth meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Steering Committee of the ” Rationalization of the Economic and Regional Communities of Central Africa (COPILCER – AC”), which examines and adopts the draft texts of the New Economic Community of the Central African Region.

The New Economic Community of the Central African Region will replace the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), as well as its economic and monetary zone (Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC).

According to the press release made public by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the process now under analysis was validated by COPILCER experts, at the meetings of November 9 to 13, 2020.

Upon her arrival in Yaoundé, the head of the Angolan ministerial delegation was received at the airport by the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Angola to Cameroon and Gabon, Luvualu de Carvalho, and by the Angolan representative at ECCAS, Lizeth Pena.

The analysis and adoption of draft texts referring to the Constitutive Treaty and the Conventions governing the Parliament, the Court of Justice and Human Rights, including the High Monetary Authority of Central Africa, are some of the items on the agenda of the ministerial meeting.

The event’s work session began last Tuesday, with meetings of the COPILCER-AC Expert Cell, work in which Angola participated with a technical delegation, made up of specialists from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Bank of Angola ( BNA) and Angolan embassies in Cameroon and Gabon.
