Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the National Assembly (AN), Carolina Cerqueira, participates, today and tomorrow, in Lisbon, Portugal, in the 11th Parliamentary Assembly of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP).

The meeting, which takes place in the Portuguese Parliament, aims to address aspects of the free movement of goods and services within the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries.

To attend the event, the president of the Angolan Parliament arrived yesterday in the Portuguese capital.

On Saturday night, before leaving Luanda, Carolina Cerqueira said that the theme of the meeting follows the latest measures taken by the Member States in relation to the granting of visas.

This is the Agreement on Mobility in the CPLP, signed in July 2021, in Luanda. The document establishes that all national citizens of the Member States can apply for visas and residence permits in the CPLP. Among other aspects, the agreement states that the “CPLP residence visa” and the “CPLP residence permit” can be granted to all nationals of the nine Member States, holders of diplomatic, official, special and service passports, as well as like ordinary.

About the 11th Parliamentary Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira hopes that it will be a fruitful meeting and that it will produce the expected results.

In addition to Carolina Cerqueira and the host parliamentary leader, Augusto Santos Silva, the presidents of the parliaments of Cape Verde, Austelino Correia, Guinea-Bissau, Cipriano Cassamá, São Tomé and Príncipe, Delfim das Neves, and Timor will be present at the meeting. East, Aniceto Lopes.

The Parliamentary Assembly is the body that brings together the representations of all the parliaments of the Member States, constituted on the basis of the electoral results of the Legislative Elections.

This Assembly was established by the XII Council of Ministers, which took place in November 2007, in Lisbon. CPLP members are Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor.
