Africa-Press – Angola. A delegation from the Angolan National Police will participate, from the 18th to the 21st of this month, in Seoul, at the International Police Conference of the Republic of Korea, within the scope of the 2023 World Exhibition of the body of this Asian country.
The conference seeks to define strategies leading to a common future vision of the policing sector with the use of high technologies and delegations from several countries will participate in it, with emphasis on the United States of America, United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Singapore, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and France.
According to a note from the Angolan Embassy in Seoul, the Angolan delegation is headed by the corporation’s general commander, general commissioner Arnaldo Manuel Carlos.
The event also includes an exhibition of technological solutions used by police forces in the prevention and maintenance of public security, as well as in the investigation of crimes, particularly the most complex ones, namely cybercrimes, money laundering, drug trafficking, weapons and illicit bank transfers using computerized means.
From a bilateral perspective, the general commander of the Angolan Police met, this Tuesday (17), with his South Korean counterpart, General Commissioner Yoon Hee Keun, with whom he discussed issues related to police cooperation between the two corporations .
The Korean Police has been assisting its Angolan counterpart in training the staff that works at the Command and Control Center, the National Police body responsible for electronic surveillance in the city of Luanda, with a capacity of 244 cameras, installed in the first phase of the modernization project of public security in Angola.
The document states that the project, whose financing was guaranteed by the South Korean government, through Korea Eximbank, will have the second phase in 2024 and will increase surveillance capacity with the installation of over 1,400 cameras in the city of Luanda.
The two commanders also analyzed the issue regarding the need to sign a memorandum of understanding between the two corporations, with emphasis on the areas of training, information exchange, supply of technologies and equipment, as well as scientific research.
General Commissioner Arnaldo Carlos has also scheduled meetings with officials from Korea Eximbank to learn about issues related to the second phase of the public security modernization project.
The project has contributed significantly to the National Police’s ability to maintain public security in the city of Luanda, a fact that has positively influenced the reduction of crime.
Also this Tuesday, a meeting was held at the Embassy of Angola with the president of the Multicultural Museum of South Korea, who was given a uniform from the Angolan police forces to be displayed alongside others, in this cultural center of Seoul.
