Africa-Press – Angola. Actions to improve physical and tactical aspects will dominate the current week of the last stage of preparation of the National Team, in both sexes, of beach volleyball, started Sunday in Luanda Island.
The four pairs that make up the national team, two men and an equal number women, are working towards the second stage, of five, of the African tournament in Zone VI, to be played from 17 to 22 May in Mozambique.
The information was provided, this Monday, in Luanda, by the national coach, Morais Abreu, after another training session.
The national team is made up of two men’s teams, Ricardo Savity-Bruno Makili and Evan Cipriano-Ari stóteles Pelenda.
As for women, there are Sara Lemos-Sayonara Magalhães and Carla Codinho-Jeovánia Cusselama.
The Zone VI circuit is a test approved by the African Confederation and by the International Federation of the modality, scoring in the continental ranking, led by Mozambique.
The annual event defines the two best countries in Zone VI for the qualifying phase for the Olympic Games, whose next edition will take place in France “Paris ́2024“.
After being off-limits since 2019 and resuming in 2022, Angola is waiting for the African ranking to be updated and meanwhile is looking to win medals in the competitions in which it participates to score.
Not losing the match, the national teams have been doing their job.
In the last zonal race of 2022, held in March of this year, in Mozambique, Angola participated with two pairs, namely Bruno Makili-Edson Figueira, in men’s (gold medal) and Sara Lemos-Sayonara Magalhães, in women’s silver).
More recently, in the first stage of the zonal circuit, 2023 edition, held in Namibia, the female duo Carla Condinho-Jeovánia Cusselama won the silver medal, while Sara Lemos-Sayonara Magalhaes won the bronze.
In men’s, the pair Ricardo Savity and Bruno Makili won the second position (silver medal).
Morais Abreu stated that Angola’s objective is to be on the podium of the five circuits yet to be disputed, so that it can score points and qualify for one of the spots for Paris’2024.
The coach, who as an athlete participated in the Beijing “2008” Olympic Games, forming a duo with Emanuel Fernandes, spoke of greater investment by the legal structures for Angola to compete again in the world’s biggest sporting event.
