Africa-Press – Angola. At least 80 athletes, from ten Southern African countries, will compete in the Region V African Table Tennis Championship, taking place for the first time in Angola, from the 27th to the 30th of June.

Taking place at the Paulo Bunze Pavilion, in the Cidade Desportiva do Clube 1° de Agosto, the event will feature the participation of Angola, South Africa, Eswatini, Leshoto, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

Speaking this Monday, in Luanda, the president of the Angolan Table Tennis Federation, Manuel Morais, explained that the zone is budgeted at 54 million kwanzas, with the State being the only sponsor.

As the organizing country, Manuel Morais points to first place as a major objective, after second place in the last edition, held in Botswana.

As for the national team, according to the source, it began preparations this Monday in a group made up of five male athletes and an equal number of female athletes.

In this first phase of preparation, work will take place in Luanda until the end of May, with an internship in Portugal planned.
