Africa-Press – Angola. The 2nd edition of the Angola Startup Summer, to be held from the 27th to the 29th of April, is estimated at 85 million kwanzas, revealed in Luanda, the chairman of the Board of Directors of Eventos Arena, Bruno Albernaz.
Speaking at the usual briefing of the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP), he underlined that it was a budget forecast, believing that the event will generate many results for operators and for the market.
He said that 101 of the 200 startups planned for the first edition are already in the final registration phase.
Regarding the space dedicated to holding the exhibition, he made it known that there are several areas distributed, where two tents (A and B), with 2 thousand square meters, will be installed, which can receive up to 250 participations.
He made it known that among the criteria are filling out a registration form with various requirements such as being a company that has existed for more than a year, with a regularized condition, with the competent authorities, as well as paying a minimum amount of 85 thousand kwanzas, whose variation depends on of the space to be used.
He mentioned that there are also shares of companies such as banking, insurance, IT, which work or have a share in the market.
He added that for visits to the site, access will be by purchasing a ticket worth 1,000 kwanzas.
For his part, the Secretary of State for the Economy, Ivan dos Santos, said that the startups have already been identified, such as T’Leva and Tupuca, but the intention is to present the new startups.
“We will continue the process of identifying these startups, in order to be able to see the most accessible type of financing, depending on the identification and what they will bring in this second edition”, he reinforced.
According to the person in charge, the support process for startups goes through several axes and one of them is through challenges.
“We are planning to support the winning startup, to be financed by FACRA. Without prejudice to that, this event also has the idea of placing investors in the space”, he stressed.
The chairman of the Executive Board of the Bank of Commerce and Industry (BCI), Renato Borges, said that the institution will allocate financing of 10 million kwanzas for the best project linked to agribusiness, whose terms and conditions will be defined at a later date. .
He assured that the intention is to become the agro bank in Angola, having started to carry out some concrete actions, for example “we have, at the moment, cataloged 60 thousand families that can be financed”.
“The bank will not focus only on what are the big projects, but also, above all, on family farming. We have these 60 thousand families in six provinces, namely Bié, Huíla, Benguela, Cuanza Sul, Huambo and Malanje, and in the next harvests they will be able to have the support of the bank”, he assured.
The 2nd edition of Angola Startup Summer, taking place from the 27th to the 29th of April under the motto “Innovation and technology as vectors for the size of startups in Angola”, will present financing instruments that are adjustable to the needs of companies of this nature, taking into account the different stages they are in.
The event, to be held by the Ministry of Economy and Planning in partnership with Eventos Arena, will take place at the Instituto Superior Politécnico de Tecnologias e Ciências (ISPTEC).
It aims to maintain and encourage the emergence of new startups, through the exchange of experiences, doing business, as well as cooperation with university institutions, potential investors, accelerators and incubators.
It is considered a startup – an English term that means “to start something new”, a new company with a repeatable business model and an innovative idea that causes an impact on society, either with a product or a service that solves a problem.
