Angola to Host Two African Roller Hockey Championships

Africa-Press – Angola. Angola will host the African under-19 skating championship, as well as the African senior men’s skating championship, both in the capital, in October this year, the secretary-general of the Angolan Skating Federation (FAP), José Gamboa, informed on Monday, in Luanda.

He said that the country was chosen as the host of both events during a meeting of the World Skate Africa, held earlier this month in Cotonou, Benin.

The sports leader explained that the Under-19 competition will be held in the south-western Namibe Province, with the participation of skaters from Angola, Egypt, Mozambique, South Africa, Benin and Cameroon.

This is the second edition of the event in this category, after Angola won the first one, held in Egypt in 2023.

On the other hand, the competition in the senior men’s category, which is in its 3rd edition, will take place in the Province of Luanda, with the participation of athletes from Egypt, South Africa, Mozambique, Benin and Cameroon.

The previous edition was also held in Luanda in 2019, and Angola was the winner.

It is worth noting that in the 2023 edition held in Cairo, Egypt, Angola was also the winner of the championship.

The two events are budgeted at 500 million Kwanzas. However, the amount has not yet been approved by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

However, the two championships are part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence, to be marked on 11 November.
