Africa-Press – Angola. Two Angolan businessmen have been in Egypt since last Thursday to identify possible business exchange routes and prospect for business in the Egyptian market.

This is a delegation made up of the manager of the company Omatapalo, Pedro Santos, and the president of the Board of Directors of Opaia, Agostinho Kapaia, who held meetings with some of the main Egyptian multinationals and with the leader of the African Export and Import Bank ( Afreximbank).

According to a press release, during the meeting between Angolan businesspeople and the president of Afreximbank, Benedict Oramah, issues related to access to lines of credit and financing at this African banking institution were discussed.

In addition, the businesspeople also met with the director for Africa of the Orascom group, Gamal Farid and the manager of the Elswedy group, Ahmed Elswedy, with the aim of starting partnerships in the areas of infrastructure, green hydrogen, clean energy and fertilizers.

Following these contacts, terms of understanding were drawn up for future business partnerships.

The Orascom business group specializes in the construction of infrastructure, being a driving force for the construction of new cities, granting investments and financing in various sectors, including cement, fertilizers and ports.

The Elsewedy group is a conglomerate specialized in electrical products and infrastructure solutions, operating in five main business sectors, namely wires, cables and accessories, electrical products, engineering and construction, as well as digital solutions.

Still within the scope of the mission to Cairo, the two businessmen met with the Angolan ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Nelson Cosme, with whom they discussed the levels of relations between the two countries, in the field of business exchange, within the framework of diplomacy economy that Angola has carried out in recent years.

The business initiative follows the reciprocal contacts initiated by this diplomatic mission, in March 2022, during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, who produced an Angola-Egypt investment round table.

Subsequently, a delegation of Egyptian businesspeople and investors visited Angola, in June 2022, where they assessed investment opportunities, mainly in the areas of industry, equipment and transport.
