Africa-Press – Angola. Jeremias Nunes, an Angolan academic, told that Angolan businesspeople should take advantage of the US-Africa Business Summit to establish mutually beneficial partnerships with their American counterparts.
The 17th US-Africa Business Summit will take place from June 22-25 in Luanda, the Angolan capital.
Nunes said the event is expected to bring together around 3,000 participants, including businesspeople and government officials from various countries.
Nunes emphasized that the summit is an opportunity for Americans to learn about the potential of participating African countries and to establish strategic partnerships. He also warned that Africans must defend private investment in local processing of raw materials to generate wealth and create jobs, especially for young people.
“Africa needs to reverse the trend of being only an exporter of raw materials to developed countries, which then process them and sell them back to Africa at exorbitant prices,” he argued.
Regarding Angola, the host country, Nunes highlighted the transport and logistics sectors as investment and partnership priorities, emphasizing the Lobito Corridor project, which has aroused great interest in the US.
The 17th US-Africa Business Summit will be held under the motto “Pathways to Prosperity” and is considered important for Angola and the African continent because it could mark a new cycle of opportunities in trade, investment, and sustainable partnerships between the United States and Africa.
