Africa-Press – Angola. The opening of Angola’s first Civil Aviation Academy (AACA) on Monday, in Luanda, reinforces innovation and applied research for the sustainability and future of the national aviation sector, according to the minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu.
Speaking at the official launch ceremony of the AACA at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport in the capital city, he said that one of the objectives of this academy is to help build a resilient, credible, and competitive national system to help Angola position itself as a continental air hub.
According to the minister, the new academy, in addition to training professionals in various specialties of the sector, should be able to boost the economy, generate skilled jobs and strengthen international institutional cooperation.
The official, at the time emphasized that its entry into the civil aviation market represents greater technical and training autonomy for the sector, as it is certified according to international standards, integrating the “Trainair Plus” network (levels of safety and efficiency in air transport) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a certification that guarantees quality, rigor, and global recognition of its training programs.
Ricardo de Abreu stated that Angola is beginning the construction of a national aeronautical training ecosystem, aimed at qualifying pilots, air traffic controllers, operations technicians, managers, operational safety specialists, and various other careers which are fundamental for the safe and efficient functioning of the civil aviation system.
On the occasion, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Civil Aviation Authority, Amélia Kuvingua, stated that AACA reinforces technical sovereignty, operational safety and the continuous qualification of human resources that guarantee the functioning of the country’s aeronautical system.
For a manager, training represents a critical factor in technical sovereignty, operational efficiency and international credibility.
She added that the academy will also serve to respond to the challenges related to the qualified and referenced training for regulators, operators, technicians and all professionals in the aviation sector, bringing more efficiency to the system and greater public confidence.
The creation of the Angolan Civil Aviation Academy, which will begin with its first graduates in January 2026, is a result of the strategic plan of the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), and will serve as the main training center for professionals in the sector.
In the coming years, the AACA plans to train between 300 and 400 professionals, through the implementation of a robust training program aligned with market needs and best practices, both nationally and internationally.
