Africa-Press – Angola. The literary work “Deambulações de um Calu”, by Angolan writer Chalo Correia, was presented, on Friday, in Lisbon (Portugal), by Pangeia Editora.

The book, with 54 pages, portrays stories experienced by the artist in his daily life, love and the problems of the people.

Chalo Correia said that “Wanderings of a Calu” is his first book and represents the beginning of an odyssey.

The newcomer in the field of literature, who composes musical lyrics, had the audacity to do a little more, so that the messages or poetry reach all the people.

Living in Portugal for over 25 years, Chalo Correia defended the need for Angolan writers to be more united in promoting Angolan art.

He emphasized that Angolan culture is gaining ground in Portuguese lands.

In turn, the work’s preface Rodrigues Vaz emphasized that Chalo Correia presents poetic writing “full” of echoes of the great Angolan poets.

“In this small volume, Chalo Correia, who presents himself as a singer, composer, guitarist and lyricist, takes the opportunity to take his letter to Garcia”, he said.

Chalo Correia was born in Luanda, in 1968. In the 90s, he moved to Portugal and has been one of the great promoters of Angolan music, both in Europe and in Brazil.

His first album Kudihohola was released in 2015, on the Celeste/Mariposa label. In 2017, she edited Akua Musseque.

His music is characterized by being organic and explosive, mixing several traditional styles such as semba, riveta, rumba or cazucuta with his contemporary musical vision and approach.
