Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Head of State and Chair of the African Union (AU), João Lourenço, received on Saturday, in Kinshasa, an emissary from the Sudan Transitional Council to learn about the evolution of events in this country in the Great Lakes region currently in conflict.
The audience granted to Ibrahim Gabir Ibrahim, member of the Sudan Transitional Council, took place on the sidelines of the ninth ordinary summit of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), which opened Saturday in the Congolese capital.
The Angolan Head of State’s participation in the Kinshasa meeting was marked by the formalization of the end of his role as acting president of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), after serving two consecutive terms since November 2020.
João Lourenço passed on the testimony to his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi, who will lead the organization for the next two years.
