Angolan Leader to Attend Cote D'Ivoire President'S Swearing-In

Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan Head of the State and African Union Chairperson João Lourenço will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the President of Cote D’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, taking place Monday in Abidjan.

According to the Press Services of the Presidency of the Republic, the event will be the culmination of the electoral process that took place in that northwest African country on October 25th.

Many other African and international political leaders are expected to attend the event at the Presidential Palace of Abidjan-Plateau.

The 83-year-old President of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, secured a fourth term with 89.77 percent of the vote.

His closest opponents, former Trade Minister Jean-Louis Billon and former First Lady Simone Gbagbo, conceded defeat after obtaining just 3 percent and 2.4 percent of the vote, respectively.
