Africa-Press – Angola. The work “The immigrant from the Web and its foolishness”, by the Angolan writer Nituecheni Africano, pseudonym of Eugénio Afonso Gaspar, won the novel category of the IV edition of the Great Literary Contest of Latin America.

With 61 pages, the book, edited by the Association of Young Writers of Angola, was the only one selected in the African continent by the organization of the Latin American event

The organization also distinguished the winner of the novel category as one of the best young writers in the world and should be honored at the award gala, scheduled for next January 10, in São Paulo (Brazil).

The organization of one of the biggest literature contests in Latin America requests the presence of the Angolan writer at the award gala, because in case of unavailability, the prize, including a trophy, certificate, medal and monetary values, must be delivered at Embassy of Angola in Brazil.

The contest, after the voting base, which started on the 20th of November and ended on the 20th of the current month, had the participation of 192 writers from various countries, in particular from Latin America, who competed in different categories.

After receiving confirmation from the organization of the event, Nituecheni Africano was satisfied with the international recognition, as it was, above all, an achievement for all Angolans, especially those who voted for the novel, which addresses the day -a-day life of social networks in society.

He referred that the work tells the story of an Angolan graduate in Computer Engineering and Telecommunications who falls in love, virtually, with a young Spanish-Brazilian woman on social networks, specifically on Facebook.

He added that the young woman invited the Angolan to live with her in Brazil, accepted that it was the invitation, upon arriving in the Latin American country the young man realizes that the girl does not demand it, that is, it was a false profile.

He recalled that the novel presents some warnings to young people about the dangers of social networks: friendships, business and relationships with unknown people, which may not bring good intentions to one of the interested parties.

Nituecheni Africano reiterated that everyday life and people’s lack of preparation to believe everything they see on social media, forgetting that it is essentially a virtual world, were the main motivations for publishing the novel.

Born in the province of Huambo, on September 12, 1990, writer Eugénio Afonso Gaspar has a degree in IT and Business Administration from the Technical University of Angola (UTANGA).

He is co-founder of the Association for Social Insertion for Ex-prisoners (ADISPER) and general director of the Association of Young Writers of the South.

In 2020, he published the works “O vendor de loaves of bread” and “Prisoneiro do amor”.
