Africa-Press – Angola. The concert “Senado 200 Anos: a historic journey towards the future”, which took place on Tuesday night, in Brasília, was attended by Angolan deputies.

The Angolan delegation was guided by the president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, who is in Brazil at the invitation of the president of the Brazilian Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco.

In the cultural event, which brought together senators, deputies, diplomats, among other politicians and foreign guests, the values ​​of the Brazilian Constitution in defense of democracy, the rule of law and fundamental freedoms were extolled.

The unity of the Federation and the States that make up the Union and Brazilian diversity were also praised.

The event, which was part of the celebrations for the bicentenary of the Federal Senate, was attended by the president of the National Assembly of Cape Verde, Austelino Correia.

During the concert, conducted by maestro João Carlos Martins, the Orquestra Bachiana Jovem Sesi-SP performed works on Brazilian history and culture.

New technologies

The Angolan delegation also participated, on Tuesday, in the international seminar “Democracy and New Technologies: challenges of the digital age”.

The question that guided the second day of lectures and debates at the international seminar was “how to guarantee democratic values ​​in the digital environment?”

The debates aimed to highlight the role of parliaments in the current technological scenario, addressing issues such as artificial intelligence, regulation of digital platforms and disinformation.

Speaker Urs Gasser, linked to the universities of Harvard, in the United States of America, and Munich, Germany, warned of the complexity of the topic.

The Angolan parliamentary delegation, which participates in the bicentenary days of the Brazilian Senate, includes deputies Ângela Bragança, Vigílio Tyova and Américo Chivukuvuku.
