Angolan President Appoints New Minister of Education

Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan Head of State João Lourenço appointed on Friday Erika Linete Batalha de Carvalho Aires as Minister of Education. the Press Office of the Presidency of the Republic has said.

Erika Linete replaces Luísa Maria Alves Grilo, who held the position for five years.

Prior to her appointment, Aires was a member of the National Assembly, serving as second vice president of the MPLA parliamentary group since September 16, 2022.

She holds a Master’s degree in Management and Public Policy and has dedicated her career to public service, governance, and institutional development.

She was an assistant to the president of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) from 2004 to 2009 and a lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Agostinho Neto University from 2013 to 2015. She also taught at other higher education institutions until 2016.

She also worked as an assistant in the Human Resources Department at the Ministry of Finance from 2014 to 2015 and as a consultant to the Office of the President of the Republic in 2015.
