The author of the book “African maxims and their pedagogical and moral values”, António Bambi, called on young people in the city of Huambo to research more about Angolan tales and proverbs as they are part of the identityThe research, he said, in addition to creating the habit of reading, allows for an increase in general knowledge and makes people more eloquent and with a keen critical sense about the main social and cultural phenomena in the country. As an example, he stressed that a people is what they learn, observe, listen to, practice and describe. The author said that the work had a print run of 500 copies. The book will be republished so that it reaches more readers. The pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church stated that, in addition to the proverbs, the motivational book aims to raise awareness among young people to give more value to the Umbundu culture and language. The book was presented at the Huambo Provincial Library, as part of the International Children’s Literature Day celebrated on Tuesday, April 2. The work was published by Casa Vieira da Silva and has 483 pages, with 411 popular sayings in different Bantu languages. According to the author, the book is written in Portuguese and the African maxims are said in Umbundu and reveal the philosophical richness of the native language.
The Umbundu language teacher, Engrácia Matokisa, considered the work as a source of information and education, because it contains the pedagogical translation of the adages.

This work is of a scientific nature, with a great deal of research into tales and proverbs, in which it presents the richness of Bantu philosophy, in the interpretation of the resolution of everyday problems.
