Angolans and International Associations Celebrate April 4Th in France

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Embassy, the Confederation of Angolan Associations in France (CAAF), and the Forum of international solidarity organizations stemming from migration (FORIM) celebrated, on Saturday (11), the “Country, Peace and Reconciliation Day”, as part of the celebrations of the National Peace and Reconciliation Day, marked on the 4th of the current month.

A press release from the Angolan Embassy in France indicates that the event’s main objective was to highlight the role of the Angolan diaspora as the country’s actor in human development, social cohesion, and socio-economic leverage.

On the occasion, the Angolan ambassador to France, Guilhermina Prata, praised the spirit of unity and resilience of the Angolan community, emphasizing that peace is a daily construction that requires the contribution of all Angolans, in and outside the country.

“Our community in France has demonstrated, over the years, remarkable resilience and an extraordinary capacity for integration, without losing sight of its roots. Your talents and academic and professional paths are a source of pride for Angola,” he stated, also highlighting that members of the diaspora are “the best ambassadors for the country.”

The ambassador reaffirmed the diplomatic mission’s commitment to supporting the Angolan community, aiming to transform the diaspora’s potential into a driving force for Angola’s sustainable development, and to strengthen links between projects in France and opportunities in the country.

The program included four roundtables. The first addressed building lasting peace and the role of the diaspora in social cohesion and human development.

The second assessed the contribution of associative actors in projecting territories and connecting with communities of origin.

The third roundtable discussed the diaspora as a lever for socio-economic development, with interventions from academics, entrepreneurs, and specialists.

The fourth focused on investment and the valorization of Angola through innovative and impactful projects, bringing together entrepreneurs and associative leaders.

The event also included an art exhibition and musical performances by Angolan artists residing in France, in an atmosphere of celebration of national culture and strengthening ties of friendship between Angola and France.
