Africa-Press – Angola. Angolans residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) defended, Saturday, continuous reforms in Angola, in order to attract investment and develop the country in various segments.

That was the conclusion reached by the participants of the reflection round table on the theme “Angola, saturday, sunday, monday – challenges and solutions for Social and Economic Development”, in an initiative of the Association of Angolans and Friends in the UAE.

At the meeting, part of the celebrations of the 4th of April, Day of Peace and National Reconciliation, Angolans in that Middle East country praised the ongoing reforms and suggested some options and solutions for the country’s social and economic development, according to a note, this Sunday.

Among other challenges, the Angolans point to the improvement of the business environment with a view to promoting the construction of a society based on values ​​and opportunities for carrying out projects, in addition to the need to prioritize fraternity, solidarity, social justice and national unity.

The president of the Association of Angolans and Friends in the UAE, Adelina Veso, considered that the signing of the Peace and National Reconciliation agreements was one of the highest points in the country’s history, after national independence, on November 11, 1975.

“After 21 years, we are aware that there is still a lot of work to be done to build the country we want and deserve, and not least, we are aware that everyone’s participation is essential for this goal”, he said.

They participated in the event, sponsored by the diplomatic and consular missions of Angola in the UAE and the Angolan community residing in this country.

The main speakers at the debate were the vice-consul of Angola in Dubai, Ismael Filipe, jurist Acúrcio Estêvão and businessman Afonso Sanana, who have been living in the Emirates for 17 years.

At the Extended Consultative Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held from 11 to 13 April 2023, in Luanda, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, instructed the diplomatic and consular missions to pay particular attention to the diaspora, in meeting their needs for juridical-consular nature

He defended that members in the diaspora, through these missions, be permanently informed about relevant events in the country, to commemorate together the main national ephemeris and to encourage the carrying out of community activities that aim to promote Angolan culture and gastronomy abroad.
