Seven national artists and broadcaster Afonso Quintas compete in the 9th edition of the African Muzic Magazine Awards and Music Festival (Afrimma), whose gala for the announcement of the winners and delivery of the trophies is scheduled for the 19th of November, in the city of Dallas, state of Texas, in the United States.

They are the musicians Edmázia Mayembe, Gerilson Insrael, Edgar Domingos, Miguel Buila, the dancer Manuel Kanza, the group Wet Bad Gang, and the DJ Jeff, whose list of nominees for the trophies of the magazine on modern African music (Afrimma) was made public on Tuesday by the organizing committee.

According to information available on the Afrimma page, Edmázia Mayembe competes for the trophy for “Best Female Artist in Central Africa”, Edgar Domingos and Gerilson Insrael are vying for the category of “Best Lusophone Singer”, while Miguel Buila is nominated for “Best Gospel”. Professor Manuel Kanza and Wet Bad Gang are nominated for “Best African Dancer”, and DJ Jeff for Best Dj in Africa.

In addition to Angolan music, which is again regularly present in the awards of the Afrimma magazine, which annually distinguishes the Africans who stand out in the international market, national entertainment appears in the list of nominees for radio broadcaster Afonso Quintas to compete for Best Presenter of the Year of Radio/TV.

The professional from Rádio Luanda, from Grupo Rádio Nacional de Angola, competes in the same category for the second consecutive year.

The Palop community is also represented by famous names in Cape Verdean, Mozambican and Sao Tome music, among which stand out Nelson Freitas, Mayra Andrade, Soraia Ramos, Calema, Liloca and Mr. Bow.

The festival, whose voting has been open since Tuesday and ends with the disclosure ceremony, on the afrimma.com website, is mostly attended by artists from Nigeria, Tanzania, South Africa, and Ghana, in 31 categories and five regions. of the continent and the African diaspora.

The award takes place, this year, under the motto “This is Africa”, in a face-to-face ceremony, on the return to the stage, after in the last two years having been broadcast via streaming in the face of the advent of Covid-19.

In a message published on the official page of Afrimma, the executive director of the award guarantees that the festival is scheduled to return with an audience, live.

Anderson Obiagwu states that this edition is set to further cement the legacy created by the various talented African musicians and that everything is being done with determination so that the festival’s long journey continues in the promotion and crossing of borders with music and in supporting all African artists.

According to Anderson Obi-agwu, Afrimma 2022 is seen by the production as a celebration of this time, Africa’s hour, which promises to be even bigger than in previous years.

“We miss having the live shows and having the audience cheering for the stars. The world has realized the beauty and diversity of our sounds and the best we can do is distribute more of the abundant pot of talent as we cross more boundaries with African music. This is Africa!”, he concluded.
