Africa-Press – Angola. The French Ambassador to Angola, Sophie Aubert, said on Friday that Angola’s presidency of the African Union has reinforced the country’s position as a strategic link between Africa and Europe, highlighting its diplomatic capacity in promoting intercontinental dialogue.

The diplomat expressed this opinion during an interview on Friday about the celebrations marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between Angola and France on February 17.

According to the French diplomat, hosting the European Union–African Union (EU–AU) Summit and the EU–AU Business Forum in Luanda demonstrated not only Angola’s centrality in the African context, but also the political confidence of European partners in its continental leadership.

The ambassador said that the large number of heads of state, government ministers and private sector representatives from both continents who attended the meetings was an unequivocal sign of international recognition of Angolan diplomacy.

The diplomat emphasized that Angola has symbolically established itself as a bridge between Africa and Europe at a time when the two regions are seeking to develop a more balanced partnership based on investment, job creation, and sustainable development.

On the economic front, she highlighted the success of the EU-AU Business Forum, which, in her view, demonstrated a shared commitment to ‘moving from words to actions’, paving the way for tangible projects in energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and digital transformation.

The diplomat reaffirmed her country’s commitment to further strengthening political, economic and cultural ties with Angola, having recognized the country’s growing influence on the African stage.
