ANIESA wants to report possible cases of price speculation

Africa-Press – Angola. The National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA), in the province of Zaire, asked the population of the region Wednesday, in Mbanza Kongo, to report possible cases of speculation in the prices of basic food products.

The coordinator of ANIESA in the region, Ambrósio Kiabanza, recalled that the festive season (Christmas and New Year’s Eve) has been taken advantage of by dishonest economic agents to obtain easy profits, anarchically increasing the prices of essential products.

The sale of expired products labeled in a foreign language, poorly preserved and sold at speculative prices are the points to be assessed during inspection, including the hygiene of commercial establishments, according to the source.

He informed that the inspection will extend to hotel, industrial, pharmaceutical and other economic establishments.

The coordinator of ANIESA in Zaire was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the campaign to monitor and contain the phenomenon of price speculation of basic food products, which will take place at the level of the region’s six municipalities, until January 22, 2024.

He said that multisectoral commissions were created for this campaign, made up of agents from the Criminal Investigation Services (SIC), Veterinarians, the Health Inspectorate, INADEC and ANIESA itself.

The official warned that punitive measures will be taken with fines and closure of commercial establishments in cases of persistent violation of commercial legislation in force.

He asked economic agents in the region to comply with the rules and regulations of commercial activities in force in the country.

ANIESA was created in 2021, as a result of the merger of the sectoral Inspection services of Industry, Commerce, Tourism, Environment, Transport, Health, Agriculture and Fisheries.
