Africa-Press – Angola. The National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA) will impose heavy fines on economic operators who continue to raise prices for basic food products.
According to information from the institution, the decision is the result of 42 complaints from consumers in the last 15 days.
ANIESA informs that the institution is aware that some traders take advantage of the global economic situation to store the products and start the practice of hoarding, a crime foreseen and punishable under the law.
Also as a result of consumer complaints, ANIESA carried out 163 inspections in the various sectors of activity, 248 less than in the previous period.
The commerce sector, with 113 complaints, industry (24), hotels and tourism (17) and health (9), are the ones that commit the greatest offences.
At the level of the central structure, 79 companies were inspected in the provinces of Cuanza-Norte, Malanje and HuĂla.
As for the inspections carried out on the ground, ANIESA found 628 of a different nature, 474 less than in the previous period.
There were three temporary suspensions of the exercise of economic activity, 19 seizures of various products and eight destruction of products of various natures.
ANIESA’s actions over this period predominantly focused on verifying price compliance, product labeling, as well as food and non-food storage conditions, which led to some apprehensions.
With regard to seizures, ANIESA visited 19 institutions, including companies, supermarkets, commercial establishments, hotels and the like.
Angomart Cash and Carry SA in Cazenga are part of the list of companies with goods seized for poorly packaging products such as horse mackerel and jerky Jerked Beef.
The Patriota Hotel for having expired and undeclared products, the Rafael Cecoma company, for lack of documentation that authorizes the exercise of the activity, Filhos e Suzana Lda for suspected reception of crime, Elvis de Carvalho Aleixo for improper consumption for human, complete the list.
In the specific case of the company Fadisancha CGImp.-Exp, Lda, the seizure resulted from the lack of an exhibition license.
