Africa-Press – Angola. The National Patriotic Alliance (APN) delivered thirty-one folders containing 17,800 signatures to the Constitutional Court (TC) on Monday, in Luanda, enabling it to run for the fifth general election, called for next August 24.
The signing ceremony took place at the premises of the Constitutional Court and was witnessed by the vice-president of the National Patriotic Alliance, Ana da Gama.
Speaking to the press, the representative of the APN campaign, Tiago Soares, confirmed that in these elections the current leader of the party, Quintino António Moreira, is the head of the list competing for the position of President of the Republic.
“The APN enters these elections to win or, at least, to aim to be the second political force in the country”, declared Tiago Soares, for whom the party is “stronger, firmer and better prepared” for the election, with an electoral program that meets with the Angolans.
The politician recalled that the APN ran in the 2008, 2012 and 2017 elections, noting that the electoral results in the latter (0.5 percent of the votes) placed the party in an extra-parliamentary position.
Tiago Soares said that independent deputy David Mendes is not on the list of APN deputies to the National Assembly and warned detractors to stop broadcasting messages with the sole purpose of discrediting the party.
“These slanders make us fight every day to achieve our goals”, he said, reiterating that the APN brings together all Angolans, without exception, and works hard to end prostitution.
