Africa-Press – Angola. A judo expansion project will be implemented in the first quarter of this year in Cunene, said this Friday, in Ondjiva, the secretary general of the local judo association.
Celestino Brandão explained that centers will be created in order to achieve the goal, initially in the municipalities of Cahama, Cuvelai and Curoca.
He referred that the process starts as soon as the inherent material is made available by the provincial Office of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports.
Regarding internal competition, he said that a tournament for competitive shooting of athletes will be organized in Cunene later this year, in addition to the provincial qualifying championship for cadet, junior and senior nationals, to be played in Malange and Uíge.
As part of the incentive for judo practitioners, Celestino Brandão referred that in March there will be a course for level D referees, with the participation of ten candidates.
Currently, Cunene province has only three judges accredited by the Angolan Federation.
Judo is a fighting modality whose main objectives are to strengthen the body, mind and spirit in an integrated way, in addition to developing self-defense techniques.
The Cunene Provincial Judo Association controls seven schools and a club, as well as 328 athletes, in the municipalities of Cuanhama, Ombadja and Namacunde.
