Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan sprinter Marco Santos participates on the 27th of this month, in Manzini (Eswatine), in the National Athletics Championship of that country.
His presence at the event is part of his preparation for the World Championship, taking place from the 19th to the 27th of August, in Budapest (Hungary).
In the Eswatine competition, the 19-year-old athlete will run the distances of 100 and 200 meters with the aim of improving his participation in the previous edition, held in 2022, in the United States of America, where he was disqualified for false start.
Marco Santos travels to that southern African country on the 26th of May, after having won the gold medal at the local National Championship on the 14th of May in Mozambique, with a time of 21.66, in the 200 metres.
Speaking this Friday, coach Santana João said that his athlete, who is currently the fifth best African in the 200m (21.52), obtained this year in the “African” in Zambia, includes participation in the National Sub-23, in Portugal, from the 13th to the 16th of July.
The also national champion in the 100 and 200 m is 52 tenths away from reaching the Olympic minimum (10.00, in the 100 m) and one second (20.12, in the 200 m), one of the objectives to be achieved for the presence in the Paris Olympic Games `2024.
