Austrian chancellor considers "good" relations with Angola

Africa-Press – Angola. The Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Austria, Karl Nehammer, considered Tuesday, that relations with Angola are “good” and guaranteed support to the sectors already identified.

Karl Nehammer, who spoke at the end of the Business Forum between the two countries, held in the Angolan capital (Luanda), expressed his satisfaction with the fact that Austrian companies are contributing to the development of Angola.

On an official visit to the country, since Monday, the Chancellor guaranteed that Austria hopes to explore new investment opportunities, intensify partnerships with this African country, within the framework of an economy that grows “quickly” and its diversified cultural heritage.

Karl Nehammer admits that the levels of trade between the two countries are still low, despite having tripled since 2021, without, however, advancing numbers.

“Based on today’s visit, I expect several visits from companies so that we can continue on this path. Many companies, such as Red Blue, ALPLA and Alpha are active in Angola and are interested in expanding their activities”, he guaranteed.

Karl Nehammer says he believes that the two countries and their citizens could benefit from much intensified cooperation and sharing.

The Austrian Head of Government also recognizes that Angola has demonstrated its commitment towards peace and stability in Africa.

For him, Angola is an economically stable country in terms of the continent, having referred that investment opportunities in infrastructures and production of the green chain have already been identified.

“We see, in the future, as consolidation. Austria is prepared to support its businesses and support companies, mainly in the area of ​​information technology”, referred Karl Nehammer who ends his official visit to Angola today.

The Austrian official predicts the development of fruitful and economic cooperation for both countries.

During the Angola-Austria business forum, the Minister of State for Economic Cooperation, Manuel Nunes Júnior, said that the country wants to rely on the experience of the Federal Republic of Austria, to build a “strong” economy and stop depending on exports of Petroleum.

Focused on the characteristics of the Austrian economy, he stressed that Angola hopes to promote business partnerships in sectors linked to agriculture, information technology, cybersecurity and digitization, environment and sanitation, education, transport and energy.

According to Nunes Júnior, Angola needs to develop businesses such as agriculture, manufacturing industry, fisheries, tourism, construction and other sectors that help to diversify sources of income.
