Authorities Repatriate 144 Illegal Citizens

Africa-Press – Angola. A total of 144 citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were repatriated in the last 7 days by the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) in the northern province of Zaire, for illegal entry and stay in the national territory.

In a press release on Monday (06), the Institutional Communication and Press Office of the Provincial Delegation of the Interior Ministry in Zaire informs that, of this number of illegal immigrants, 14 were repatriated by judicial decision and 130 by administrative measures.

It indicates that 39 citizens left through the Naval Post of the 2nd Border Guard Police Unit, in the municipality of Soyo, and 105 through the land border of Luvo, which is 60 kilometers north of the city of Mbanza-Kongo, capital of the province of Zaire.

It adds that of the repatriated illegal immigrants, 77 are men and 67 women, accompanied by 21 minors.

Customs Infractions

During the aforementioned period, 6 customs infractions were registered, namely one for smuggling petroleum products, two for aggravated smuggling, and three for exporting miscellaneous goods.

Regarding the petroleum product infractions, 2,500 liters of fuel were seized, of which 1,875 liters were gasoline and 625 liters were diesel, which were on a smuggling route to the DRC.

Five municipalities in the province of Zaire, namely Luvo, Soyo, Nóqui, Cuimba, and Quêlo, share a border with the DRC, extending for 310 kilometers.
