The governor of Cuando Cubango made it known, Sunday (13), that the Head of State, João Lourenço, authorized the immediate execution of the works on the Menongue sanatorium hospital, the access bridge to the municipal headquarters of Nancova, the housing units, the University Pole, from the expansion of potable water and electricity to the provincial capital.
José Martins mentioned that in relation to the National Road (EN) 140, which connects the municipality of Caiundo to the Border Post of Catuitui, Cuangar to Dirico, on the border with neighboring Namibia, and the road 280 that connects the municipality of Cuito Cuanavale to the Rivungo, as well as some inter-municipal ones, were taken into account and the works must be restarted, with a view to allowing, in the medium term, the safe movement of people and goods
He said that more than 23 million US dollars are already available to cover the resumption of works on the Menongue housing centre, which had been suspended for about four years. In this order, funds are also available to fund the works of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), whose first 68 actions, of the 121 projects of the first phase, should be concluded this month.
Governor José Martins said that, at the meeting with the President of the Republic, the construction of a field hospital in the municipality of Cuito Cuanavale, which begins to be installed later this month, the completion of the municipal hospital in Calai and the expansion of the Kwenda social program throughout the territory of Cuando Cubango.
