Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, authorized expenditure in the amount of 6 million and 48 thousand US dollars for the acquisition of new equipment for issuing passports in the country, as well as the respective necessary consumables.
The information is contained in Presidential Dispatch nº 26/22 of 2 February, published in the I series of the Diário da República on the same date.
Taking into account the technical inadequacies and the low efficiency of the equipment for issuing passports, due to their useful life, the Presidential Dispatch states that there is an urgent need to replace them, under penalty of registering the interruption of the issuance of passports in Angola.
In the same Order, the President of the Republic also authorizes expenses in the amount of 781,700,000 kwanzas for the acquisition of 550,000 passport books and 162,000 MILS films, to guarantee the operational continuity of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME ), while the constraints and delays in the introduction of the electronic passport continue.
According to the document, the Minister of the Interior is delegated competence with the power to sub-delegate for the approval of the parts of the procedure, as well as for the verification of the validity and legality of all the acts carried out within the scope of the referred procedure for the celebration of the corresponding contracts, including their signature.
On the other hand, still according to the Order published in the Diário da República, the Ministry of Finance must ensure the availability of the necessary financial resources for the execution of the contracts.
