Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda beat Interclube this Monday, by 98-82, in a match for the 11th round of the National Senior Men’s Basketball Championship, remaining at the top, now with 39 points.

Played at the Cidadela Desportiva pavilion, the match did not take place on the scheduled date due to the unavailability of Interclube, currently third in the standings, with 33 points.

The challenge between the two colossi of the modality had the nature of a rematch, after the day before the “policemen” had broken the “tricolor” invincibility that came from the previous edition of the competition, with a victory of 97-95, in a challenge of the 22nd round of the second return to the regular phase.

As in the previous match, yesterday the match also started and ended evenly with two points early from winger Egídio Ventura, for Inter, and five from Petro’s reinforcement, the North American Damian Hollis, who tried to put his team in advantage with two points and a triple afterwards (5-2).

The first quarter ended with an advantage for the defending champions, by five points of difference (29-24).

In the second period, the Cidadela pavilion, which benefited from improvements to the floor, registered a gradual increase in spectators, while on the court the contenders continued to provide a good basketball spectacle according to the respective statutes.

The Angolan representative in the African Championship ended the break winning by 51-40, at a time when the most productive were Interclube’s winger, Wilson Ambrósio (13 points) and the opposite baseman, Gerson Gonçalves (12).

The third period was marked by a low intensity of the game, but, even so, Petro de Luanda won by 69-61.

In the last period, Carlos Diniz’s men did not have the same inspiration to repeat the feat of the 22nd round and ended up losing to José Neto’s charges, by 98-82.

Wilson Ambrósio (Interclube) was the best scorer of the match, with 23 points, followed by Gerson Gonçalves (Petro), with 18.

That journey also had the following results: Inter B-Vila Clotilde (82-71), 1st of August – Clube Amigos do Basquetebol de Benguela (158-59), 1st of August B – Kwanza Sports Training Club ( 109-100) and Akira Academy-House of People in Porto do Lobito (80-75).
