The winger Cristiano Xavier, from Petro de Luanda B, may leave this Monday the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he has been hospitalized since Friday, after having fallen unconscious during the game with Interclube, referring to the 26th day of the National Basketball Championship.

The information was advanced, at a press conference, in Luanda, by the director of competitions of the Angolan Basketball Federation (FAB), Tony Sofrimento.

“We have been regularly monitoring the evolution of Cristiano’s situation. Fortunately, he is already talking and will still be able to leave the ICU today”, he reiterated.

According to the official, after leaving the Intensive Care Unit, the athlete will remain under observation by the medical team, in the hospital unit where he is hospitalized.

On Friday (27), Cristiano Xavier fell unconscious eight minutes before the end of the third quarter of the match, which was played at the 28 de Fevereiro pavilion.

The situation occurred when the player was making free throws and the score was tied at 48 points.

24 years old and 2.02 meters tall, Xavier has already represented the teams of Marinha de Guerra, Benfica de Luanda and Recreativo do Libolo.

He is African champion for the Angolan under-16 team.
