Belize opens generic court room

Africa-Press – Angola. The Government of the Province of Cabinda handed over, on Friday, in Belize, the generic jurisdiction room for trials attached to the Buco-Zau District Court.

The room operates in one of the city’s buildings and was formally handed over to the Superior Council of the Judiciary in the municipality of Belize, which is approximately 220 kilometers north of Cabinda.

With this space, it is expected to ease the transfer of cases linked to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Court to the Buco-Zau District Court.

With the property, the governor of Cabinda, Mara Quiosa, believes that, for the first time, the accommodation conditions for magistrates at Belize level have been created to carry out their functions linked to justice with dignity.

“The main objective of the Executive is to bring services close to the populations. Previously, populations had to travel a few kilometers to other locations (Buco-Zau and Cabinda) to deal with some issues linked to justice in Belize”, he admitted .

He stressed that such constraints disappear, because Belize already has a local generic room to resolve all cases linked to trials.

On the occasion, he asked traditional authorities to help magistrates work together, providing all necessary support.

For his part, the executive secretary of the Council of Judicial Magistracy, Manuel Victor, thanked the local government for the gesture of handing over the building.

For Manuel Victor, it is the courts’ mission to bring or bring justice closer to citizens, having guaranteed that in the next few days judges will arrive in the municipality of Belize to carry out their mission with determination.

The building with the generic room was built within the scope of the Integrated Municipal Intervention Program (PIIM), worth 168 million 782 thousand 247 kwanzas, whose works began in 2020.

The property has two courtrooms, two registry offices, an office for the judge and one for the prosecutor, with their respective support offices.
